Dr. Lynn Levy joined the faculty at Wurzweiler since 2005; first as an adjunct professor and as full-time faculty member in 2006.  Since then, she has acted as the faculty liaison for Student Government, the faculty liaison for NASW NY Chapter, and a co-liaison for the New York State Society for Clinical Social Workers. Dr. Levy initiated several programs at Wurzweiler, most notably the Peer Mentoring Program and the Wurzweiler Writing Support Services, both student-centered programs to assist students in a smooth transition to successfully navigate their graduate social work degrees. In addition, she is faculty representative to the Faculty Council for the past four years and a member of the Executive Committee.  Dr. Levy is deeply committed to the success of Wurzweiler and the general welfare of Yeshiva University.

Dr. Levy is the sequence chair for the following courses: The Philosophical Foundations of Social Work and Social Work Values and Ethics; she is co-chair for Generalist Practice I and II and HBSE.  Her contributions to advancing the curriculum at Wurzweiler include the development of these courses: The Changing Jewish Family, Working with Individuals and Families with Disabilities, and the Philosophical Foundations of the Helping Professions, an online course for the Rabbinic Certificate Program in Gerontology and Palliative Care.  She currently teaches in the Masters program, the doctoral program, the Online Program, and the aforementioned Rabbinic Certificate program.

As a member of the Curriculum committee, the Admissions committee, chair of the Governance committee, the Continuing Education committee, and the Doctoral committee, Dr. Levy provides her time and service to improving the Wurzweiler community.  She has been the faculty leader for Common Day, Lunch and Learns, and Lobby Day, and, along with colleagues led a trauma and recovery program for Wurzweiler Block students in Israel; each of these activities provide unique opportunities for students to broaden their knowledge about social work's time honored commitment to improving the lives of individuals.

Dr. Levy began her career as a group facilitator for interfaith couples and their families, those seeking conversion, and premarital couples.  She was the Director of Premarital Education at Union for Reform Judaism where she developed The Aleph Bet of Marriage, a national program for premarital couples that was launched in nine cities across North America. Dr. Levy has presented at rabbinic conferences, group work conferences, radio podcasts, such as Sacred Aging, at the JCC of Manhattan and the 92nd St Y.  She is the co-author, with her husband, Dr. Philip Levy, of The Resilient Couple: Navigating together Through Life.

Dr. Levy's doctoral dissertation explored the decline in volunteerism in the Jewish community, an area of special interest that she believes is one factor that illustrates America's trend towards a post-denominational relationship with religion.

She is interested in the spiritual dimensions of social work practice and the efficacy of spirituality and religion on the psychological healing from traumatic events.
