WSSW PhD Candidate Justyna Rzewinski Awarded Champion of Justice Award

WSSW PhD Candidate Justyna Rzewinski will be honored with the 2025 Champion of Justice Award on March 27, 2025. 

The Champion of Justice Award honors an individual who has made significant strides working on a prominent social, environmental and/or economic justice issue within the boundaries of NASW-NYS or NASW-NYC Chapter. As part of their efforts, nominees promote sensitivity to and knowledge about cultural and ethnic diversity while striving to ensure equitable access to needed resources; promote equality of opportunity; eliminate oppressive structural and institutional barriers to ensure the protection of human rights; and encourage meaningful participation in decision making for all people above and beyond the standard commitment.

As a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience Justyna has held leadership roles and correctional health outpatient treatment and reentry programs.  She is currently the clinical director of a supervised release program in New York City focusing on reducing pretrial detention.
