Wurzweiler School of Social Work faculty, staff and Ph.D. students had a strong presence at the New York State Social Work Education Association (NYSSWEA) Conference, presenting dynamic research on several topics and hosting thought-provoking panel discussions with their peers.
Dr. Latoya Attis, former Wurzweiler associate director of advising & advocacy and Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology clinical assistant professor and field placement advisor, presented her dissertation research on students with disabilities and self-advocacy.
Dr. Shannon R. Lane, Wurzweiler associate professor of social work, and Allysha Bryant, Wurzweiler Ph.D. student and political justice fellow, spoke about voting and homelessness.
First-year Ph.D. student Sharon Turnage presented on perinatal and maternal health justice, which was done in collaboration with Ph.D. student Binah Stinnett-Bloemhof (who was not able to attend the conference in person).
Finally, NYSSWEA board members Dr. Susan Mason, Wurzweiler professor of social work and the director of the Ph.D. program, and Dr. Christine Vyshedsky, clinical assistant professor, each moderated two panels.
All of this was done with Care Café Director and Ph.D. student Kim Moore in attendance, who was cheering on her colleagues from the audience section.
