Dr. Tsadik Delivers Paper at Conference on Iranian Jewish History

Revel Professor Daniel Tsadik, Assistant Professor of Sepharadic and Iranian studies, delivered a paper entitled "Jews under Shi'ite Rule" at the conference "From Ancient Persia to Contemporary LA: 2,700 Years of Iranian Jewish History." The major theme of the conference was the multifaceted history and culture of the Jews of Iran throughout the ages. Prof. Tsadik's paper discussed Muslim Shi'ite legal percepts of Jews and other religious minorities under Twelver Shi'te rule and the reality of Jewish life under Twelver Shi'ite governments, with a special attention to Jews from Safavid, Qajar and contemporary Iran. His paper was extremely well received.
