On Thursday, the college bowl team had their first meet of the year at Flatbush High School. The Junior varsity team opened with a loss against Heschel, followed by a dominant win over Magen David. The next match, against Flatbush, was a thriller, ending in a tie as the clock expired. In sudden death overtime, Flatbush prevailed and won the match. The JV team then lost their final match to Ramaz in another close game, finishing with a 1-3 record.
The Varsity team also got off to a rough start, as Westchester pulled away for the win in the second half after a close first half. In their next game against Flatbush, MTA took an early lead and kept playing strongly, winning by a large margin. In their last match, they lost to Ramaz.
Although the college bowl team did not reach their expectations in the first meet, they are looking forward to regaining their winning reputation at their next set of games.
