Revel provided me with a wonderful network of colleagues and friends and introduced me to some of the most outstanding scholars in the field of Jewish Studies. I was fortunate to study with noted historian of American Jewry, Jeffrey Gurock, who encouraged me to pursue doctoral work in the sociology of American Jewry, while grounding me within a comparative-historical framework.
