At the Marketing Mingle, Students Learn Career Strategies From Industry Professionals

On Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, the Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development (SGC), in collaboration with the Marketing Society, a YU student organization, hosted the annual Marketing Mingle, a networking event for students interested in careers in marketing. This year, students learned about the marketing world from a panel discussion of three industry guests followed by virtual networking. Alan Kleinerman ’07SB, marketing director at the Kraft Heinz Company; Jason Ciment ’90SB, CEO and CFO of the Get Visible Digital Marketing Agency; and Kevin Russell, performance marketing specialist at Index Exchange spoke about their career experiences in navigating the marketing world. Three breakout sessions followed the panel discussion, each led by one of the three guests, an SGC team member and groups of students for several rounds of ten-minute flash networking sessions where the guests gave guidance and helpful suggestions to students on how they can enter the field. “The event was awesome,” said SJ Tannenbaum ’22SB. “It was really cool to meet experienced and successful YU alumni working in an industry that I’m passionate about.” The Marketing Mingle is one of several flagship events hosted by the SGC under the Connections and Partnerships for Success (CAPS) program for students interested in pursuing careers in marketing, real estate, sales, finance and accounting. Sharon Mella-Reyes, associate director for career advising, handles the support and advisement for students interested in these areas. Each of the SGC’s ten CAPS communities features a designated adviser who serves the career guidance needs of students.
