Peninnah Schram, professor emerita of speech and drama at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women, presented a storytelling workshop for select Israeli English department high school teachers at a conference titled“Diplomacy and International Communication in English: Inquire, Engage, Inspire,” hosted by the State of Israel Ministry of Education in Sh’dema, Israel on October 2, 2015.
Schram’s workshop focused on the importance and power of storytelling and used a collection of stories including “The Hungry Clothes” and “The Dream and the Treasure” to highlight Jewish folktales that are also found in the oral histories of cultures all over the world. Professor Schram will also narrate Sheherazade accompanied by the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony during their performance, “Vivid Sensations,” on October 24-25 at the All Saints Church in New York City.
Schram is the co-author of the recently published Jewish Stories of Love and Marriage: Folktales, Legends and Letters (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015).
