Dr. Fabiola Barrios-Landeros, assistant professor of chemistry at Yeshiva University, has received a prestigious grant from Research Corporation for Science Advancement (RCSA.) Her research explores the structure and reactivity of metal catalysts copper and palladium, which could lead to a novel and efficient method to produce aryl carboxylates, a class of chemical compounds found in materials such as liquid crystals for digital displays or in coumarin derivatives in perfumes or anti-coagulation drugs.
Barrios-Landeros received her award under RCSA's Cottrell College Science program, created in the early 1970s to promote basic research as a vital component of undergraduate education at the national's public and private small colleges and universities.
