Over 350 guests attended the 37th annual Sy Syms Awards Dinner last month at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park.

Guests from the entire Sy Syms community, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, board members and families heard remarks from Dean Noam Wasserman, Associate Dean Michael Strauss; Fleur Hassan-Nahoum, keynote speaker and former Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem; Mila Krugman, Hadaya Fried and Andrew Jacobson, Sy Syms co-presidents; Ahuva Abraham and Moshe Wolff, valedictorians; Professor Steve Mayer (Professor of the Year) and Rabbi Daniel Rapp (Adjunct Professor of the Year), in addition to other award presenters.

This year’s dinner was especially unique for two reasons: First, the creation of the inaugural Sy Syms Guardian of Israel Award, given to three Syms students who returned to Israel to serve after October 7, as well as the keynote speaker, Fleur Hassan-Nahoum.

Second, it was the first Syms Dinner where both undergraduate and graduate students were included in the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honors Society Ceremony, honoring the top 10% of business students in the nation. There were 27 inductees from Yeshiva University/Sy Syms School of Business in total; 23 undergrads and 4 master‘s students.
