Networking Event Boasts Strong Representation from Big 4 and Other Top Tier Firms

For the first time in two years, The Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development hosted the annual Accounting and Finance Fair for undergraduate students in an in-person setting. The highly anticipated event provides finance and accounting majors with networking exposure to the nation’s largest accounting firms, also known as the Big 4, and other industry-leading companies. The purpose of the annual fair is to help students secure jobs and promote career success after graduation.

Attending students gained valuable face time with company representatives to network for jobs and internships, a significant number of whom are YU Alumni. Overall, 151 students and 72 alumni and employer professionals participated in this year's event.     The event drew a diverse pool of companies which included PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, UBS, Blackstone, Mazars, IRS Criminal Investigation, and CohnReznick.  While surveying of all attendees is ongoing, over 85% of employer responses indicated that they scheduled an in-person callback with students that they met at the fair.    Todd Lotcpeich, Senior Director for The Shevet Glaubach Center, shared that “accounting and finance routinely rank among the most popular majors for Sy Syms School of Business students. The annual fair which has taken place for over a decade, has contributed to countless job placements and fosters an active connection between undergraduates and alumni working in industry-leading firms.”        The return of the in-person format also enhanced the scope of this year's event allowing for a greater number of students to connect with recruiters and receive practical guidance about job placement and industry trends.   Barbara Lerman-Kang, associate director for The Shevet Glaubach Center, said “I was elated to see so many students, alumni, and recruiters together again in one space since fall 2019. It's safe to say that the Fall 2022 Finance and Accounting Fair was a major success. ”  The Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development provides students with various career training, enrichment, and networking events.
