How do I find documents in the Archives catalog?

The Archives catalog consists of electronic guides, known as finding aids, to many of Yeshiva University's archival collections.  In addition to having information typically found in library catalog records such as title, author, subjects, and call number, a finding aid also describes a collection's contents, includes background on individuals and organizations associated with it, and may contain a detailed inventory of its contents.

A search of the full text of all finding aids in the Archives catalog may be done by entering a word or phrase in the search box.  Additionally, the complete set of finding aids may be browsed by collection title, creator (author), or subject.  For specific tips to optimally search or browse the catalog, see the catalog home page

The catalog contains finding aids for many, but not all, of the Archives' holdings.  Please contact the Archives staff for information not found by searching the catalog.

What can I do if the book I need is not available at the Library?

If you are a Wilf or Beren campus student, faculty member, or employee, you may request books, journal articles, and other library materials not found in the YULIS Catalog or not available at your campus through interlibrary loan (ILL).
Fill out the appropriate online form --Request a journal article or Request a book, microfilm, etc.

Interlibrary loan materials coming from a YU campus usually arrive within 2 business days.  Materials from outside the YU Library can take 1-3 weeks.
Articles you receive by Interlibrary loan are yours to keep.
For books, microfilms, etc., the due date (generally 4 weeks from receipt) and the renew date, if they are renewable, appear on the ILL ''strip''.
To request a renewal, contact Mary Ann Linahan at linahan@yu.edu or (212) 960-5491.
