In a brief letter to the Editor of The New York Times, published on May 24, 2010, Dr. Frederick J. Streets, professor at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University, contends that government and tribal leaders of South Africa acknowledge the reality of H.I.V. and AIDS, and endorse safe-sex practices that are crucial in diminishing the spread of and stigma associated with the disease.
