    By applying to the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, you've just taken the first step toward influencing Jewish youth and learning the skills to be an effective Jewish educator and administrator.

    The breadth and scope of our programs is exemplified by our master's (MS) and doctoral programs (EdD), as well as a joint program (BA/MS) with Yeshiva College and Stern College for Women. Click below for all the information you need to apply.

  • MS Programs: Admissions Requirements

    Admission to the MS program is determined by the quality of the entire application. To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

    • A bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
    • Advanced background in Jewish studies
    • Competence in Hebrew
    MS Programs: Application Deadlines

    Preference is given to applications received by the following dates:

    Spring Semester: November 1
    Fall Semester: June 1

    For the Accelerated Master's Program, space is limited to 10 and applications are accepted until placements are filled.

    MS Programs: Applying

    Applicants must complete an Azrieli master's application online, along with a $50 fee by credit card. Applicants also need to submit two official copies of their transcripts and two letters of recommendation directly to our office. Please note: applicants from any Yeshiva University undergraduate schools need not send official transcripts. Applicants should also email a JPEG photo to azrieli@yu.edu for our file.

    Applicants with an undergraduate degree from a nontraditional four-year institution, e.g., an online school, seminary, foreign school, etc., will also be required to take the verbal and analytical writing portions of the GRE or a similar standardized test, e.g., MAT (Miller Analogy), PRAXIS, NYSTCE.

    If English is not your primary language, we require that you take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Yeshiva University requires a minimum score of 82 on the Internet-based TOEFL, or at least a 220 on the computer-based TOEFL, to be submitted to YU directly by the testing service (code 2990).     Request for Letter of Recommendation (PDF)

    After submitting the online application, references and transcripts should be mailed to:

    Incomplete applications will not be processed. We will contact candidates for a Skype interview only if their application package is complete (recommendations, transcripts, essays) for us to review. Upon approval, we will mail the student a letter of acceptance to the master's program.

  • Joint BA/MS Program: Admissions Requirements and Application

    Applicants (undergraduate students from Stern College for Women or Yeshiva College) must meet the following criteria:

    1. Attain senior status (94 undergraduate credits completed)
    2. Achieve at least a 3.2 overall GPA

    The application process for the joint BA/MS program is as follows:

    1. UG candidates complete the Yeshiva College (YC) BA/MS or Stern College for Women BA/MS application.
    2. Stern candidates submit the application to the undergraduate registrar, along with two copies of the transcript. YC candidates obtain two copies of the transcript from the UG registrar, meet with the UG dean for a signature and bring the application and transcript to the Azrieli Office, Belfer Hall 311.
    3. At the same time, the candidates should send a personal essay of 3-5 pages, double spaced, detailing academic and professional goals, including any experience and/or interest in Jewish education, and reasons for applying to Azrieli. Submit either via e-mail to azrieli@yu.edu or mail to Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, 500 West 185th Street, Belfer Hall 311, New York, NY 10033.
    4. Candidates should print two copies of the recommendation form, enter their name in the appropriate places, then sign and date the forms. Send the forms to two university instructors under whom you have studied. Have the recommendations sent directly to the Azrieli Office.
    5. When all application material has been submitted, candidates should call the Azrieli Office, 212.960.0186, to schedule an interview with the program director.
    6. Upon approval, Azrieli mails the student a letter of acceptance to the BA/MS Program. A copy is sent to the undergraduate registrar.
    7. Stern College students register for courses approved by Azrieli with the Beren Campus registrar. Students must request approval by filing the ''Joint SC-AGS/BRGS Approval Request'' form with an academic adviser. These courses count in the 7 course maximum workload per semester.
    8. YC students register online after advisement by the Azrieli program director.
    9. Upon conferral of the undergraduate degree, candidates must e-mail Azrieli at azrieli@yu.edu, of intent to continue the master's program. They must complete an online graduate application and submit the $50 application fee. No essay or recommendations are required. Candidates will receive a letter officially admitting them to the graduate program.

  • EdD Program: Admissions Requirements
    • A master's degree in Jewish education or equivalent from an accredited college or university
    • Advanced background in Jewish studies
    • At least two years of teaching experience in an accredited school
    • Competence in Hebrew

    To process your application, the forms, fee and letters of recommendation must all be submitted by the specified deadline noted above.

    Completed applications should include transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate studies and two letters of recommendation.
