Dear Delegate,

Celebrating twenty years of Yeshiva University’s Model UN history is not a small feat.  There are endless memories and stories that always get me excited for that year’s event as I know it will just add to the events legacy.  YUNMUN XX is going to be the best and most exciting to date.  Now is a time to look to the future, chart the many miles still untraveled and map the goals we hope to accomplish.  It is also a time to dream more and reach farther than we ever have before.  But it is also a time to look back at the many years of great accomplishment and see how far we have truly come.

I had been part of other university model United Nations, but nothing had the unique perspective that YU could offer.  Model UN’s are a unique opportunity that will allow students to engage in thought, debate and discussions dealing with the most relevant and crucial global issues, up close and hands on.  So with the help of three students, we pulled off the first ever YUMMUN. In that first year, we had 150 very excited people participate in this historical event, enjoying a special shabbaton at Stern College for the delegates.

Since then, due to overwhelming popularity, the conference left Manhattan and the number of interested schools and participants have grown exponentially to almost five hundred participants each year.  With all of the change, we have not forgotten that special YU touch that is prevalent at all YU functions and events.  YUMMUN is the highlight of the year for prospective and current students alike, providing a unique opportunity to meet new people, broaden their knowledge and understanding of the world and of course, have a great time!   What a testament to the conference that an overwhelming majority of the current Yeshiva University students who volunteer at YUNMUN were participants in high school and cant wait for the opportunity to give back to the event that gave them so much.

This year, we look to the past to inspire the future.  We know that success after success, year after year, this YUNMUN will be no different.  It will truly be the greatest Model UN Yeshiva University has ever hosted and we can’t wait to share the experience with you in its 20th year!

Best of Luck
