When is the application deadline?

Applications received by June 15, 2009 will receive priority consideration. Decisions are made on a rolling basis and applicants will be notified by mail of their decision. Application deadlines for the spring and summer 2010 semesters will posted at a later date.

Is the GMAT required?

If your cumulative undergraduate G.P.A. is 3.5 or better, you do not need to take the GMAT. If your G.P.A. is below 3.5, then the GMAT is required.

What are the minimum G.P.A. and GMAT scores required for the Masters program?

The admissions committee takes a holistic approach to the application, and there are many factors that they consider when making a decision on an application. Applicants are encouraged to present an application that best reflects their educational and professional experiences.

How do I report my GMAT scores?

Please send a copy of your official score report along with your application. If you will be submitting your score report separate from your application, please send them to the address indicated on the application.

If I am a foreign applicant do I need to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)?

Yes. If you attended an institution where English was not the primary language, then you must take the TOEFL and receive a score of at least 577 on the paper-based test, 233 on the computer-based test or 90 on the web-based test. To have your TOEFL scores reported to the Sy Syms School of Business Masters of Science in Accounting program, you must use the test code 4462.

If I obtained my degree outside of the United States, how will it be evaluated?

If you obtained your degree outside of the United States, you will need to have your credentials evaluated by World Education Services. You may contact World Education Services at www.wes.org.

Must I maintain a certain G.P.A. in the Masters of Science in Accounting program?

In order to fulfill the educational requirements for licensure, you must have an overall “B” average in your graduate coursework. This applies to courses that may be taken at the undergraduate level that will count towards your graduate level credit requirements.
