Dr. Joseph Kerstein
Associate Professor of Accounting
Dr. Joseph Kerstein is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Sy Syms School of Business.
Prior to joining SSSB, Dr. Kerstein was an Auditor at Peat Marwick Mitchells & Co. and Coopers and Lybrand. He was the Project Manager and Research Assistant at University of Pennsylvania’s Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics. Dr. Kerstein is also an Associate Professor at the Stan Ross department of accountancy at Baruch College where he has been teaching since 1989.
Dr. Kerstein holds a PhD in Health Care Systems with specialties in Accounting and Economics from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania; an MBA in Accounting and Taxation from New York University; and a BA in History, University of Cincinnati
Dr. Moses L. Pava
Accounting Faculty Area Head
Sy Syms School of Business
Moses Pava is the Alvin Einbender Professor of Business Ethics and Professor of Accounting at SSSB, where he has taught since 1988.
Professor Pava’s research interests include business ethics, financial accounting, corporate social responsibility, and the interface between religion and business. His work in these areas is frequently cited in both academic and professional literatures.
He has written numerous books and articles on these topics including Leading with Meaning, Business Ethics: A Jewish Perspective, The Search for Meaning in Organizations, and Corporate Social Responsibility and Financial Performance, which was named by Choice Magazine as an Outstanding Business Book Selection.
In addition, Professor Pava serves as editor of the annual series research in Ethical Issues in Organizations published by Elsevier. He also serves on three editorial boards of Business Ethics Quarterly and the Journal of Business Ethics and is a frequent contributor and reviewer for these journals.
Professor Pava has lectured at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvaie, Yale University, Stamford Law School, Hebrew University, New York University, and many other prestigious business schools worldwide. He holds a PhD from New York University and a BA from Brandeis University.
