SPOTLIGHT ON...

Michael Davies
RIETS ’08

Michael DaviesNo one can be fully prepared to be a rabbi, but with the hands-on experience I received in my internships, in both schools and synagogues, I feel more confident in this endeavor. The rebbeim at the Israel Kollel also have been a tremendous inspiration to me in how to combine being a Talmid Chacham and a Baal Midot—which, I think, is what Torah Umadda is really all about.

Michael is Assistant Rabbi at Beth Jacob Congregation in Oakland, CA, and teaches Gemara at Oakland Hebrew Day School.

Yeshiva University Center for the Jewish Future is the community service arm of RIETS. It continues the work of the Max Stern Division of Communal Services, which for over sixty years served as one of the premier service organizations for the Jewish community.

The Center for the Jewish Future’s mission is to shape, enrich, and inspire the contemporary Jewish community by convening the resources of Yeshiva University to infuse the student body with a spirit of leadership and a sense of Klal Yisrael; to build, cultivate, and support communities, rabbinic and lay leaders, and individuals; and to create a global movement that promotes the values of Yeshiva University.
