Organizational Structure for Information Technology Services

To remain competitive among other leading national research universities, Yeshiva University requires a nimble and responsive information systems environment, high levels of integration among its applications as well as a reliable and cutting edge network infrastructure. High level support of academic and clinical research endeavors is also paramount to our success. To create greater efficiencies and attain a higher level of accountability,  Information Technology Services has 4 main units with Directors who report directly to Vice President Marc Milstein, the University’s Chief Information Officer.  (In addition, the Information Security Officer, Sean Cottman, reports to Mr. Milstein.)

The four areas are as follows:

  • Academic Services: technical support for Academic Computing, Multimedia, the Help Desk, and Desktop Support.  The director is Tom Oleszczuk, Ph.D.
  • Technology and Network Operations: University-wide Networks, Security Administration and E-Mail Services.  The director is Tom H. Karson, MD, who is also the Deputy CIO.
  • Central and Administrative Systems: Computer Operations, Servers, Financial Applications Support, and the Student Information System (Banner). The director is Mr. Terry Every.
  • Research Computing: technical and consultative support for University researchers.  The director is Tom H. Karson, MD, who is also the Deputy CIO.

Einstein Departmental File Server Outage 1/29/09 5:30 - 6:30

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

 

Due to the Engineering Dept at Einstein moving several circuits in the distribution panel to another part of the panel, a power outage has been scheduled in the Server Room, Belfer 1401, TONIGHT Thursday, 1/29/2009, for about an hour beginning at 5:30PM. This power shutdown will affect the below servers:

 

Einstein Departmental File Server, HR Server, Occupational Health, MicroMain, GME,

Server for Flat Screen, NetFM,  ISGUS(Palm Reader). 

 

EXCHANGE MAIL SERVER MAINTENANCE - 1/26/09

The Exchange Email system has exhibited some intermittent problems this afternoon and corrective steps need to be taken. Therefore, the email system will be taken down at 6:00 pm today for 30 minutes.

 Your incoming mail will be cached while the servers are down and will then be directed to your Inboxes once the system is restored.

 We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

The Jacada system will be down on 1/22/2009 from 5:30 PM for approximately 30 minutes.                                        
The system is being shut down so that the server group can apply maintenance to the servers.

Banner will be unavailable on 1/24/09 from 8-9pm

The distribution switches in the three Wilf Campus dormitories will be upgraded as per the schedeule that follows:

Rubin     Thursday  1/22/09  9:00am - 9:30am                    

Morg      Tuesday   1/27/09  9:00am  - 9:30am          

Muss      Thursday  1/29/09  9:00am - 9:30am 

The ResNet system will be breifly unavailable during this upgrade. 

NOTE: Every effort will be made to ensure that ResNet access will be restored as quickly as possible.
