Organizational Structure for Information Technology Services

To remain competitive among other leading national research universities, Yeshiva University requires a nimble and responsive information systems environment, high levels of integration among its applications as well as a reliable and cutting edge network infrastructure. High level support of academic and clinical research endeavors is also paramount to our success. To create greater efficiencies and attain a higher level of accountability,  Information Technology Services has 4 main units with Directors who report directly to Vice President Marc Milstein, the University’s Chief Information Officer.  (In addition, the Information Security Officer, Sean Cottman, reports to Mr. Milstein.)

The four areas are as follows:

  • Academic Services: technical support for Academic Computing, Multimedia, the Help Desk, and Desktop Support.  The director is Tom Oleszczuk, Ph.D.
  • Technology and Network Operations: University-wide Networks, Security Administration and E-Mail Services.  The director is Tom H. Karson, MD, who is also the Deputy CIO.
  • Central and Administrative Systems: Computer Operations, Servers, Financial Applications Support, and the Student Information System (Banner). The director is Mr. Terry Every.
  • Research Computing: technical and consultative support for University researchers.  The director is Tom H. Karson, MD, who is also the Deputy CIO.

Banner Web (MYYU) maintenance 10am-10:30am 11/26/08

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

BANNER WEB (My YU) will be down tomorrow Wednesday 11/26/08 from 10AM -

10:30AM to switch to a new and better server.

This does NOT affect BANNER forms, transcripts, access, etc.

It affects: MY YU (banner self service), Marketplace, online giving.

Banner Forms Unavailable TONIGHT for One Hour, November 25, 2008

Banner Forms will be unavailable tonight, Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 9PM for approximately one hour.

This will not affect WEB registration, MY YU, online giving, marketplace, etc. 

Only Banner forms (which includes transcripts, and MS Access via TSWeb) will be unavailable. 

MS Access connections via your local computer will not be affected. 

We apologize for any inconvenience.

 

Jacada Maintenance - 11/20/08

The Jacada system will be down on November 20, 2008 at 5:30 PM for approximately 20 minutes.         

The system is being shut down so that the server group can apply necessary maintenance updates to the servers.

Einstein Email System Upgrade

The Einstein Email System will be unavailable tomorrow night, Wednesday November 19th, from 10:00pm to approximately 2:00am Thursday morning to permit a system upgrade to be performed. This outage affects all  access to Einstein email including IMAP, POP3, Netmail and Pine. During the outage incoming email will be held elsewhere and  delivered to your account some time after 2:00am. No email will be lost or returned as undeliverable.

Wilf Campus Network Maintenance - 11/17/08 (Completed)

The data network on the Wilf campus will be out of service for approximately 30 minutes next Monday evening, November 17, starting at about 9:30 PM. This outage is necessary to permit an equipment upgrade procedure to be performed. All servers at Wilf will be unreachable during the outage, and all computers on the Wilf campus will be unable to access the Internet.

We know that any network outage is inconvenient, but some outages are unavoidable. Your patience and cooperation is appreciated.
