We are happy to announce the completion of a major expansion of the Yeshiva University wireless network! Now all Manhattan residence halls have wireless network connectivity, which replaces the previous wired connectivity.
Students using desktop PCs in the residence halls will need to purchase a wireless USB device to access the Internet, see http://www.yu.edu/mis/page.aspx?id=1826) for recommended adapters. Alternately, you may access this information by going to www.yu.edu and select Quick Links, Academic Computing, and then Wireless. The adapter can be purchased online at any number of popular websites, like Amazon.com, Dell.com, Staples.com, etc.
Instructions for connecting your computer are located on the web at: http://www.yu.edu/mis/page.aspx?id=1826.
For additional support call the ITS Academic Computing Office at:
Wilf Campus: 212-960-5438
Beren Campus: 212-340-7772
As part of this network expansion, it is necessary to optimize usage of our wireless bandwidth. Thus, some aspects of P2P (peer-to-peer) capability will be adjusted, so that a small number of students will not preempt our capacity and prevent reasonable connectivity by all the rest. We will be monitoring wireless network performance and make further revisions as required.
We will continue to expand wireless coverage in the coming months to include academic and administrative buildings on the Manhattan campuses, as well as widely-used commons areas between buildings.
