Dr. Wheaton is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. He holds and MA and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his internship training in clinical psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to coming to Ferkauf Dr. Wheaton was a postdoctoral clinical researcher in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. He is licensed as a psychologist in New York State.

Dr. Wheaton's research interests focus on the psychopathology and treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and OCD-related disorders, with a particular emphasis on hoarding disorder. His research program aims to explore the cognitive, behavioral, and neurobiological factors that contribute to OCD and related disorders. His teaching interests focus on quantitative research, statistics and data analysis.
