YESHIVA UNIVERSITY DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS JOE BEDNARSH VOTED HVWAC PRESIDENT
Former conference secretary to begin two-year term on Sept. 1

(New York, NY) – Yeshiva University Director of Athletics Joe Bednarsh has been voted President of the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC). After serving as the conference's secretary for the last two years, Bednarsh will begin a two-year term as conference President beginning on Sept. 1, 2008.  More

 

MAUZY NAMED ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS AT YESHIVA UNIVERSITY
Former Mount Saint Vincent Baseball standout to oversee operations/facilities for 15 YU Athletics programs

(New York, NY) – Yeshiva University Director of Athletics Joe Bednarsh has announced the hiring of Logan Mauzy as Assistant Director of Athletics. Mauzy, a recent graduate of fellow Skyline Conference member Mount Saint Vincent, brings to Yeshiva four years of experience working within an intercollegiate athletics department as he served as a member of the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team, and also worked as the Coordinator of Athletics Event Staff throughout his undergraduate career.  More

(New York, NY) – Yeshiva University has been selected as the recipient of the inaugural Skyline Conference Sportsmanship Trophy after displaying outstanding team sportsmanship during the 2007-08 academic year. (New York, NY) – Yeshiva University Men's Basketball freshman Zachary Gordon (Miami Beach, FL/RASG Hebrew Academy) and senior Michael Pollack (Los Angeles, CA/YULA) were named to the 2007-08 Jewish Sports Review All-American team for Division II and III programs. Gordon and Pollack were instrumental in leading Yeshiva to an 11-16 season during which the Maccabees advanced to the Skyline Conference Semifinals.   More

MEZEI COMPLETES UNDEFEATED SEASON AS MEN'S TENNIS RALLIES FOR 6-3 WIN OVER YORK COLLEGE TO FINISH SEASON 6-6
Maccabees win final four singles matches to erase 3-2 deficit; YU's #2-#6 competitors win two matches apiece

(Queens, NY) - Junior Andrew Mezei (Riverdale, NY/MTA) scored a 6-0, 6-3 win at #5 singles to finish the season with an 8-0 record, and the #3-#6 YU flights won in both singles and doubles competition as the Yeshiva University Men's Tennis team closed the 2008 season with their fourth straight win, a 6-3 triumph over York College on Wednesday afternoon at York College. With the win, YU finishes the season 6-6 and avoided their second losing campaign during the last 14 years. More

Schwartz racks up two hits in opener, Maccabees enjoy five-run fourth inning in nightcap but unable to complete comeback

(Bronx, NY) - Senior Avery Schwartz (Brooklyn, NY/TMSTA) collected two hits during the opener, and YU nearly erased an eight-run deficit in the nightcap, but the Yeshiva University Baseball team closed the 2008 season with 10-5 and 14-5 losses to Lehman College on Sunday, May 4. With the losses, YU closes the season with an 0-28 record. More

(Morris, NJ) - Senior Jason Eisenman (West Hempstead, NY/HANC) was outstanding once again, shooting a season-best 75, and senior Robbie Silverman (Los Angeles, CA/Yeshiva Gedolah of Los Angeles) and senior Seth Greenspan (Lawrence, NY/HAFTR) both broke 90 as the Yeshiva University Golf defeated Stevens and lost to FDU during a tri-meet at the Morris County Golf Club in Morris, New Jersey on Monday, April 14. (Coram, NY) - Senior Jason Eisenman (West Hempstead, NY/HANC) scored a team-high 82, and fellow senior Robbie Silverman (Los Angeles, CA/Yeshiva Gedolah of Los Angeles) shot an 87 as the Yeshiva University Golf team finished a respectable fifth at the Golden Eagle Invitational at the Pine Ridge Golf CLub in Coram, New York on Friday, April 11. Freshman becomes first Yeshiva University Men's Basketball player ever honored by D3Hoops.com after earning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year

(New York, NY) – Yeshiva University Men's Basketball freshman Zachary Gordon (Miami Beach, FL/RASG Hebrew Academy) was named First Team All-Region by D3Hoops.com for an outstanding freshman campaign during which he earned First Team All-Conference by the Skyline Conference, and was voted the conference's Rookie of the Year. Gordon is the first member of the Yeshiva University Men's Baketball team to ever earn All-Region honors from D3Hoops.com. The popular website began awarding All-Region selections at the conclusion of the 2001-02 season.   More

Maccabees return to action when they host Ramapo on March 24

(New York, NY) - The Men's Tennis match between Yeshiva University and Lehman College - scheduled for March 19 at Lehman College - has been postponed due to poor weather. No make-up date has been announced. The Maccabees retturn to action on Tuesday, March 24 when they host Ramapo College at 8:00 p.m. at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, New Jersey.

(Farmingdale, NY) - Senior Oren Schwartz(Cleveland, OH/Fasman Yeshiva) had hits during both games, and Yeshiva displayed tremendous improvement over recent games defensively, but the YU Baseball team fell to 0-11 after falling 13-0 and 15-0 to Farmingdale State during a Tuesday doubleheader at Farmingdale. The losses marked Yeshiva's first-ever Skyline Conference games. More

(Edgewater, NJ) - Sophomore Moshe Dlott (Cleveland, OH/Fuchs Mizrachi) continued his torrid start to the 2008 season, winning for the third straight time in singles play, and continuing his undefeated streak in doubles competition with partner Eliezer Stavsky (Teaneck, NJ/TABC), and junior Max Klein (Woodmere, NY/HAFTR) and junior Andrew Mezei (Riverdale, NY/MTA) also scored singles wins, but the Yeshiva University Men's Tennis team lost a 5-4 heartbreaker to St. Joseph's (LI) on Sunday, March 16 at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, New Jersey. (Brooklyn, NY) - Sophomore David Katz (Suffern, NY/MTA) registered three kills, and sophomore Nathaniel Montag (East Meadow, NY/HANC) had perhaps his finest match of the season as he had three blocks, a service ace, and three digs, but the Yeshiva University Men's Volleyball team was swept 3-0 by Brooklyn College on Thursday night at Brooklyn College. With their 13th straight loss, YU is now 1-18 overall.
