Honors Programs

Both the S. Daniel Abraham Honors Program at Stern College and the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program at Yeshiva College challenge outstanding students to reach their full potential. The programs stress critical analysis, creativity, cultural enrichment, research, individual mentoring, and both oral and written communication skills. Students who fulfill all of the honors program requirements have the honors distinction noted on their transcripts and receive special diplomas with the honors program designation.

Students interested in one of the Honors Programs must apply either directly from high school or while engaged in post high school study in Israel. All applicants must have maintained a 90 average in high school and have earned a combined SAT score (best critical reasoning and mathematics scores, even from different administrations) of 1400 or an ACT score at least 32. Students should demonstrate a commitment to Yeshiva University’s philosophy of Torah Umadda, and exhibit leadership potential through their extracurricular activities and community involvement.

Students admitted to the Honors Programs are also considered for Yeshiva University’s many undergraduate academic scholarships. These scholarships are awarded based on past achievement, leadership potential and community service. Awards range from $10,000 to full tuition (currently $31,594).

Acceptance into the Honors Program and awards of academic scholarships are determined by the Faculty Honors Committee. Applicants are informed of the Honors Committee’s decision independently from the general admission response.  To be considered for the Honors Program all components of the general application and Honors Program application must be completed by February 1, 2010.
