Need-Based Scholarships

Each year, Yeshiva University devotes substantial resources to providing need-based scholarships to its students and their families. Put simply, we offer funds to cover the gap between the cost of YU and the amount that your family is able to pay.  

Need-based scholarships take into account all aspects of a family's financial circumstances—including income, savings, tuition for siblings enrolled in day schools or college, care of elderly family members and even recent business difficulties. As a result, even families with high levels of income are often eligible for need-based assistance.

U.S. Citizens must begin the process by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), a federal form that helps our financial aid staff determine how much financial assistance a family needs. There are two ways to fill out a FAFSA:

• The most efficient method is to fill out the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov 
• You can also complete a paper FAFSA, which can be obtained from most high schools and colleges or by calling 800.4.FED.AID. Note that using the paper version will delay the processing and response.
• Yeshiva University's FAFSA code is 002903. 

YU uses the FAFSA as well as other relevant information that you provide to determine the amount and makeup of financial aid package. A typical package  may be composed of grants (money that does not need to be repaid), loans and Work Study (campus job). 

International students who do not hold U.S. citizenship should fill out the International Undergraduate Student Financial Aid Application (PDF). All U.S. citizens must fill out the FAFSA in order to apply for need-based scholarships, even if they hold dual citizenship with another country.
