  • Using Yeshiva's Wireless Networks

YU provides wireless connectivity in Manhattan residence halls, some areas of academic and administrative buildings, all of Cardozo, and most of Einstein (except residence halls there).  Currently, YU's plans to expand wireless coverage even further have been temporarily suspended due to budgetary restrictions.

Wireless Connection Standard - Getting Started

In order to equally support access for all users of the new YU Wireless systems ITS will be instituting a wireless connection standard. The standard number of connections to the YU Wireless per user is one (1). This means that a user can connect to the YU Wireless with one device at a time. A user may connect either their computer(laptop/desktop) or another device but not both at the same time. Other devices include cell phones, PDA, and gaming systems.

ITS is continuously looking for ways to improve the services it provides. Over the past few months ITS has collected feedback from the community about the University’s Wi-Fi networks (YUWireless and YUGuest). The feedback received has been extremely helpful in providing ITS with areas to focus on and ways to improve services. Thanks in part to this feedback ITS is introducing two new services to the University’s Wi-Fi network. Please follow the links below for more information.

    Availability

Because of the current budgetary situation, further expansion of YU's wireless network is temporarily suspended.  For a current listing of wireless locations and information about expansion, please review our master deployment schedule.

    Important Note

If you are using a computer without built-in Wireless, a USB Wireless adaptor is required. We recommend:

You can purchase these from many major resellers like Staples or Best Buy.

Note: The above wireless adaptors are recommended for PC's only. Most consumer Mac computers including, iMacs, MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and Mac Mini's have built in Wireless cards.
