Organization of Psychology Students

The Organization of Psychology Students (OPS) is the student organization of Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology (FGSP). Each FGSP student is a member of the organization and “dues,” called student activity fees, are collected automatically each semester with tuition. These dues constitute the budget of OPS. The purpose of the organization is to provide FGSP students with information relevant to their academic and professional careers. Members serve to facilitate communication between students and administration/faculty, as well as student organizations and alumni by acting as a liaison between the groups. In addition, OPS offers reimbursments for research and conferences, works to foster a sense of community within FGSP by sponsoring student socials, and works to foster a sense of community outside of FGSP by offering students the chance to get involved in social action projects.
OPS is led by an Executive Board. The Executive Board of OPS shall consist of no less than six members representing each of the Ferkauf Graduate Psychology Programs. The Executive Board shall be elected to a two year term by the general OPS membership from each program except for the Master’s program representative who shall be elected to a one year term. Officers are chair and co-chair, vice-chair, secretary, treasurer, social, and secretary. OPS establishes a committee based on the varying needs and goals of FGSP students from year to year. The structure of OPS encourages maximum participation by all students. OPS and its members shall not discriminate against any individuals for reasons of race, national origin, color, religion, gender, age, veteran status, sexual orientation or disability.
