'WHAT THE RABBI NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CURRENT FINANCIAL CRISIS'

Yeshiva University Center for the Jewish Future and RIETS Rabbinic Alumni presented a two-part webcast/conference call to help rabbis understand, anticipate and respond to the needs of congregants, students and friends. Over 100 Rabbis and a number of Lay Kodesh participated in both webcasts via the internet as well as over the phone. The first part was held on January 6th and was moderated by Rabbi Shaul Robinson (Lincoln Square Synagogue, New York, NY), and the panel consisted of Dr. John Malindretos (Professor of Finance, Sy Syms School of Business, Yeshiva University); Andrew (Avi) Lauer, ESQ (General Counsel, Yeshiva University); Rabbi Yossie Stern (Project Ezra, Teaneck, NJ) and Rabbi Hershel Billet (Young Israel of Woodmere, Woodmere, NY). The second part held on January 13th was moderated by Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Schwartz (Congregation Adath Israel, Elizabeth, NJ; Clinical Psychologist in private practice) and the panel consisted of Dr. David Pelcovitz (Gwendolyn and Joseph Straus Chair in Jewish Education, Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration, Yeshiva University); Dr. Sara Barris (Clinical Psychologist in family practice); and Rabbi Shmuel Goldin (Congregation Ahavath Torah, Englewood, NJ).
