  • Emergency Drills

Periodic Fire/Evacuation drills are required by New York State and City law and conducted under the guidance of the Office of Safety and Security. These drills are an important means of preparing students living in University residence halls and faculty and staff working in University buildings to respond to the sounding of fire emergency alarms. Building occupants must evacuate immediately upon hearing the fire emergency alarm.

Drills will be conducted one or more times annually at each administrative building, with a schedule for the drills sent to faculty and staff in advance of those determined drill dates. Drills in student residences shall be conducted at least three times in each year, one of which will be held between September first and December first of each year. In buildings where summer sessions are conducted at least one drill will be held at the start of the summer session.
