Law education at Yeshiva University includes graduate study at our renowned Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. On the undergraduate level, YU’s Office of Pre-law Advisement helps jump-start students’ law education and career by providing one-on-one guidance from the time students begin to consider a career in the law all the way until they matriculate in law school.

Office of Pre-Law Advisement

Yeshiva University’s strong liberal arts education and dual curriculum provide an excellent background for law school. Undergraduate students interested in pursuing a legal career should meet with the pre-law adviser in the Office of Pre-Law Advisement to map out their courses, learn of internship opportunities, draft their personal statements and complete their law school applications. In addition, group advising, in the form of pre-law workshops, is also offered throughout the year.

The office interacts with various legal employers and the Yeshiva University Career Center to identify internship opportunities that are suitable for our students. One of the most successful pre-law internship programs is coordinated by the Office of Pre-Law Advisement: the Yeshiva University Judicial Internship Program, which places YU undergraduates with judges throughout the New York State Unified Court System.

Yeshiva University also has a vibrant student-run pre-law society which, in conjunction with the office, arranges for a wide range of pre-law speakers from academic and professional settings to visit the campus and share their experiences.

Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law

Noted for its academic strengths in numerous areas of study and its highly acclaimed programs in intellectual property and information law, alternative dispute resolution, legal ethics and clinical education, the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law offers a JD program for those with a bachelor’s degree and LLM programs for law school graduates who wish to pursue advanced study. Joint degree options include:

• MSW/JD with YU’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work
• MBE (master’s in bioethics) with YU’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine

Outside the classrooms, Cardozo’s rich variety of internships, externships and nationally recognized programs and clinics—such as the Innocence Project and the Holocaust Claims Restitution Practicum—provide students hands-on training for the courtroom, the corporate boardroom, the DA’s Office and government or public service organizations.
