Admission to the Master of Science Program in Quantitative Economics at Yeshiva University is competitive, and the following requirements are necessary rather than sufficient conditions for admission.

1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
2. A major in economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science or one of the physical or engineering sciences, finance or related fields. All applicants, regardless of major or other qualifications, must have completed a course in multivariate calculus or its equivalent at the time of application. Courses such as basic Linear Algebra or Advanced Calculus, or equivalent, are a plus.
3. An average GPA of 3.3/4.0 in quantitative courses.
4. GRE scores and letters of recommendation as described below.
5. TOEFL scores for graduates of non-English-speaking colleges or universities, as described below. This requirement may be waived by the Department of Economics if the applicant presents evidence that his or her native language is English.

Applicants who do not meet some of the above conditions may still be considered provided they display particular strengths and interests in their application.

Deadlines: The deadline for application for the fall 2013 entry to the Master of Science in Quantitative Economics program is April 1, 2013. Completed applications received on or before February 1, 2013, will be considered for early admission. Early admissions decisions are typically made in early March. Applications will be accepted starting December 2012.

Required Application Materials

The application is received online only, and must contain the following elements to be complete:

• Curriculum Vitae (provided only by filling out the appropriate section of the online application form).
• Personal Statement (a brief (2-5 pages) statement to be inserted as text within the online application; describing your goals in pursuing graduate study in economics at Yeshiva University): Use this opportunity to provide any information that is not reflected in the remainder of your application but which you feel is important and would like us to consider. Examples would be relevant extracurricular activities or relevant nonacademic accomplishments. (For instance, this is where you would tell us that you are a Grand Master in chess and/or have won the Nobel Prize for Economics.) Make sure you mention clearly the university you've attended so far, and what major or specialization you've taken.

• Transcripts: online, a list including any relevant course from all colleges or universities attended since high school, with grade obtained. Particularly, list all math and stats courses you have taken. After decisions are made, we will ask admitted students for official copies of their transcripts. Decisions are not binding until these materials have been received.

• Letters of Recommendation: two letters of recommendation are required. Online, you must list the name and contact information for each of your referrer. Letters will then have to be sent in to mqeinfo@yu.edu directly by your referrers. Make sure the referrer uses your full name and application ID (the pwd you created when you first logged in to the online application system) in their email subject, and that the letter clearly states whether or not you waived your rights to view it.
• Graduate Record Examination (GRE): The GRE General Test is required; a GRE Subject Test in Economics can also be considered as additional evidence of proficiency, but it is not required. Both examinations must have been taken within the past five years. Exceptionally, the GMAT scores can also be provided as a substitute to the GRE scores. In 2012, the entering class had an average GRE score of 92% below in the quantitative section, with the lowest score being 88%.
• Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL): The TOEFL is required for international applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree from an institution in a non-English-speaking country. TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the test date. Ordinarily, a score of at 550 (written version), 213 (CBT) or 80 (IBT) is required. Make sure you: (1) enter the score in the proper field of the online application; and (2) provide ETS with our school and program name, so that they can send us the official score as well.
• Picture (optional): include a recent 2x2inch picture, that will be used after admission to create a student roster for the program. Once you are done with the online application, send us the picture via email to mqeinfo@yu.edu by the date you indicate there.
• Application fee: A $75.00 nonrefundable application fee, made payable to Yeshiva University, must accompany all applications. Payment must be made online by credit card, in US dollars, for the online application to be complete.

Tuition

For the academic year 2013-2014, tuition is set at $1,150/credit, or $34,500. Tuition waivers are available under certain conditions. Notice: in the additional information section of the online application you must indicate whether you have a source of financing for your graduate studies at Yeshiva University, its amount, and whether or not your acceptance of an admission will be conditional to receiving financial aid from us.
