Dr. Miriam Hirsch is an associate professor in the department of education at Stern College, Yeshiva University. She holds a BA in psychology from Barnard College, two MAs from Teachers College, Columbia University, one in curriculum and teaching and another in arts education, and a PhD from New York University in educational administration. She maintains a K–6 elementary school teacher license in both New York and New Jersey, and has taught in both private and public schools in the New York metropolitan area. She also served as the assistant principal of a large Jewish girls’ elementary school prior to her move to higher education. She recently published her first book, "Teach Like a Human: Essays for Parents & Teachers " (Rowman & Littlefield, 2020). She has published in Educational Leadership,The Educational Forum, Teaching Education, The Teacher Educator, Schools: Studies in Education, Arts & Humanities in Higher Education, Jewish Action, and Jewish Educational Leadership. Her research examines how school stories, narrative experiences of teaching, learning, and schooling, contour educational opportunities and dispositions.
