Bruno Galantucci’s domain of expertise is human communication, which he has investigated from a number of perspectives. His earlier research focused on the psychology of language, including speech perception, word recognition, and sentence processing. He then investigated the emergence and evolution of non-linguistic forms of human communication in the laboratory, contributing to the development of a new discipline called Experimental Semiotics. In the last few years, he has expanded his research interests to the investigation of miscommunication in spontaneous interactions, which he has studied through experiments involving textual exchanges as well as face-to-face conversations.
